REI PARTNERS WITH FINNISH COMPANY INTRODUCING BREAKTHROUGH END-TO-END ENGINEERING LIFECYCLE TECHNOLOGY

REI’s leading structural analysis tool STAAD.Pro along with Tekla’s Xsteel 3D modeling play a critical role in the new Xengineer concept

YORBA LINDA, CA - January 16, 2003 - Research Engineers International (REI), a division of netGuru, Inc. (Nasdaq: NGRU), providers of world class engineering software for structural design and analysis, along with Tekla Corporation (Tekla), a Finland based company, announce the integration of STAAD.Pro with Xengineer, the first integrated workspace for engineers from conception to drafting. The integration of STAAD.Pro with Xengineer will provide for an end-to-end comprehensive engineering solution. REI and Tekla have mutually executed an agreement to develop the interface and seamlessly integrate STAAD.Pro into Xengineer. The scheduled release target is set for the first half of 2003, but the product will officially be revealed to the public in April at the NASCC (North American Steel Construction Conference) in Baltimore. Xengineer integrated with STAAD.Pro and Xsteel, a full fabrication and detailing application from Tekla, will provide the worldwide structural engineering community with a single environment that encompasses all engineering processes including object-based modeling (walls, beams, joists, etc.), analysis and design, production drawings and detailing for steel, concrete and timber. Xengineer will offer engineers a seamless workflow creating cost and time efficiencies in the engineering project lifecycle by consolidating current fragmented engineering processes and eliminating clumsy import/export mechanisms. REI will be compensated $510,000 for the integration work. REI has developed a revolutionary open architecture OpenSTAAD that is designed to act as the underlying communication protocol between STAAD.Pro, REI’s flagship structural analysis and design product, and third party platforms such as the Tekla modeler, a 3D object-based modeling component of Xengineer. Further, Tekla will retain rights for the interface developed by REI to STAAD.Pro modules and REI will receive a perpetual royalty fee on every Xengineer license integrated with STAAD.Pro sold by Tekla. REI will be a reseller of the new integrated Xengineer software in the US, Canada, Mexico and India. Both companies are global leaders in their respective niches within the vertical structural software market including modeling, analysis and production design.

Commenting on the development, Mr. Amrit Das, Chairman & CEO of netGuru said, “We are delighted to launch into an entirely new engineering market for netGuru. This new product will specifically address the 3D design and detailing of steel and concrete buildings whereas STAAD.Pro will continue to be represented as the leading general purpose structural analysis software. These new market segments will augment the sales of our existing engineering products while simultaneously promoting STAAD.Pro as a staple analysis product. REI continues to innovate modern engineering processes by providing what we believe is the best structural design and analysis software in the market today. Our software has been a critical component of most structural engineering projects for the past 21 years. The introduction of Xengineer now addresses the entire engineering process rather than just one component. Xengineer will do for engineering processes what ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) has done for business processes. We are pleased to partner with Tekla, the providers of Xsteel, the leading detailing and fabrication software in the world. We believe that joining forces will ensure our leadership position in the global structural engineering software markets for years to come.”
